Esztergom, Visegrad and Szendentre Tour
The first stop of our tour will be Esztergom which has great importance in Ottoman and Hungarian history. Esztergom is a city in the northern Hungary, 46 kilometres (29 miles) northwest of the capital Budapest. It lies on the right bank of the river Danube, which forms the border with Slovakia. Here we will visit the castle of Esztergom.
The next stop of the tour will be the Esztergom Basilica considered one of the finest works of art to have survived from the Renaissance period. It is the largest church and the tallest building in Hungary. Its inner area is 5,600 m². It is 118 m long and 49 m wide.
We will have lunch at Visegrad. Here it is possible to see the ruins of Roman watchtowers along the Danube. The view from here is superb, encompassing the incomparable Danube Bend.
Afterwards we will visit Szentendre which is a small baroque city built on medieval ruins, located at the gate of the Danube Bend..Its picturesque setting attracted many painters, sculptors and artists who lived and still live in Szentendre. The town is home to several galleries, workshops, exhibition centres and museums.
This pleased tour ends with a nice dinner.
